“I was very pleased with the boys’ performance, both individually, and as a team,” said coach Toby Emery. He added, “There were a lot of close matches; some went our way and some didn’t unfortunately. At the end of the day, we crowned some champs and placed 4th as a team.”

“The boys gave it their all and I’m happy with their efforts. Next weekend, we travel to Riverton to hopefully see some new competition and end our season on a good note,” said Emery.

On Tuesday, Feb. 2, the middle school wrestlers competed in a quad at home. Thermopolis wrestled against Riverton and Lander with Worland attending the tournament also.

According to Emery, team scores were not kept, but Thermopolis wrestlers did well against both Riverton and Lander. In 26 matches against Riverton, Thermopolis won 18 and in 15 matches against Lander, Thermopolis won 9.

“It was fun to watch the boys wrestle in front of the home crowd. We saw some new competition, which was a nice change from our weekly tournament schedule. The boys are definitely showing progress,” said Emery.
