Arthur L. Hunter, 73, passed away Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016, at Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital in Thermopolis after suffering a short illness.
Art was born in Brighton, Colo., to Chester and Marie (Palmer) Hunter. He grew up at Green Mountain Camp at the foot of Green Mountain Dam in Summit County, Colo. Following graduation from West Grand High School he attended Colorado State University.
Entering the electrical trade he worked as an electrician for over thirty years, most of which was for Ludvik Electric Company in Denver, Colo.
Upon retirement, Art and Donna moved to Thermopolis, Wyo., where he enjoyed outdoor pursuits of hunting and fishing. The slower pace and beautiful scenery reminded him of his youth. Art was a member of Pheasants Forever and served as chairman. He was on the Hot Springs County Predator Board. He was married to Donna (Van Riper) Hunter for 19 wonderful years.
He is survived by his wife, Donna; three children and stepson, Nevetta Hunter of Genesee, Idaho, Trudy (Jerry) Van Riper of Brighton, Colo., Sam (Courtney) Hunter of Lakewood, Colo., and Jacob Ryan of Arvada, Colo .; grandchildren, George and DeSelvia McDaniel, and Brittany, Cassidy and Abigail Van Riper; siblings, Phyllis Ramstetter and Wayne (Kathy) Hunter; and two beloved hunting companions, Shyanne and Boomer.
Art was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Dorelle Hunter.
Memorial services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Pheasants Forever, Chapter 902, P.O. Box 225, Thermopolis, 82443.
