John D. Rickman, 80, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2016, at his home in Thermopolis, after a long illness.
Born Nov. 28, 1935, in Springfield, Mo., he was the son of Max A. and Laura E. (Anderson) Rickman. He graduated from high school in Glenrock, Wyo. He soon joined the US Marine Corp in January 1954, serving stateside, then Korea until his discharge in1961.
On July 20, 1956, John married Betty Johnson in Yuma, Ariz. The couple and their family moved to Thermopolis in 1966.
Most of John's life was spent in the food industry, first operating a grocery store then as a salesman for food companies.
He was a member of the Risen Son Southern Baptist Church. His interests included fishing, hunting, watching sports and enjoying his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years; children, Will Rickman of California, Michael Rickman of Texas, Lorraine Long of Casper and Tam Collins of Cody; sister, Betty Kertson of Thermopolis; 13 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Helen Lien and Vautress Faunce.
Memorial services will be Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016, at 11 a.m. at the Risen Son Southern Baptist Church with Pastor Brian Johnson officiating. Private graveside services were held Friday, Jan. 29 at Monument Hill Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Messiah's Mall at the Risen Son Baptist Church.
