A loss was felt in Thermopolis when Canyon Sporting Goods closed their doors last year. Fast forward to today, and it has found a new home at White Horse Country Store. Canyon Sporting Goods will be opening Saturday, Feb. 1.
Dave Denton, owner of White Horse Country Store, purchased the sporting goods store from Eileen Johnson.
Denton and Johnson, long time friends, had discussed being partners for many years and the right pieces finally fell into place. The two have been working since December to make the deal happen, allowing Denton to purchase the store from Johnson.
Taking a corner spot inside the White Horse Country Store, Canyon Sporting Goods will have hunting and fishing supplies including licenses. As the store grows in the future, they hope to expand to include different kinds of merchandise, such as clothing and accessories.
Bryce Gilbert will be managing Canyon Sporting Goods. Gilbert has been working hard towards the new opening.
Denton hopes the store will become what the community needs in the future. Thermopolis cannot afford to lose another small business, according to Denton.
