Attending movie was a waste of time

To support our local movie theater, we saw “The Hateful Eight.” I wish I had back the three hours and ten dollars wasted on that effort. I wish I had heeded the boycott called for by supporters of police officers nationwide. The movie’s director, Quentin Tarantino, had called officers involved in recent shootings “murderers.”

It is surprising that the usual protest groups have not condemned this movie: the NAACP (for using Mark Twain language hundreds of times); NOW (for male violence against women); The Obama administration (for gun violence); PETA (for animal cruelty, making horses work in snow and cold); The Justice Brothers - Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson (for violence against blacks); the ACLU (oops, they support free speech such as the vulgar dialog in the movie).

On the other hand, supporting the movie, should be groups like the ACLU, and ACT UP and GLAAD (for one particular scene of importance to them). But overall, one would think that this movie would be universally condemned. Not so. After all, it comes from Hollywood, home base of the ultra-liberal left fanatics. It is so important to them to put out movies like this so they can pat themselves on the back for being socially progressive. The only victims here are the people who waste their money on tickets to this movie.

I am glad our town and Merlin’s Hide Out received the publicity surrounding the making of the buffalo robes worn in the movie. I only wish the rest of the movie had been worth seeing.
