Wrestlers hit the mats

The Bobcats head wrestling coach C.J. Scholl said he breaks the season into thirds.

The first third ends with the Christmas break. That was a period when the coaches could make an assessment of the pluses and minuses of each individual athlete and develop a plan for the development of the skills they’ll need to be as successful as possible.

The second third starts now. Each wrestler will have “tweaks” to practice for the final third of the season which starts immediately after the Ron Thon in Riverton and concludes with the regional and state tournaments.

“These young men are tough wrestlers. They don’t give up. They’ll need to be at their toughest this weekend at the Shane Shatto Invitational in Douglas. We’ll be 3A next year,” Scholl added,” so we might as well get used to competition at that level.”
