Johnson finishes third in junior golf tour

Hardy Johnson ended the year third in the 2015 Tournament of Champions for the Rocky Mountain Junior Golf Tour (RMJGT) in Scottsdale, Ariz. on December 28.

Johnson competed against RMJGT members from across the United States, including Florida, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, California, Nevada, Colorado and New Mexico.

Johnson qualified for the tournament in early June with a win at Thorncreek Golf Course in Thornton, Colo., and later with a win at the Utah State Golf Championship in Salt Lake City.

Johnson scored 74 on 18 holes the first day and was in fourth, and after a hard second round on day two he scored 79 which earned him the third place trophy in the event.

Johnson said, "The tournament was a great experience and I look forward to improving in the years to come."

Another really neat experience for Johnson was the Tournament of Champions Banquet where junior golfers had the opportunity to listen to the head golf coaches of CU, Idaho State and Minnesota.

The coaches said there is currently a shortage of junior golfers in the US and there are over 1,550 Colleges and Universities that offer golf scholarships to junior golfers.
