Ruth Quadro

Ruth Evelyn Quadro, 90, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2015, at her daughter’s residence in Hot Springs County where she and her husband have resided the past few years.

Born Jan. 24, 1925, in Bradley, Calif., she was one of nine children born to Joseph Oscar and Ruth (Spencer) Gale. Orphaned at the age of 3, she was taken by an uncle to Arizona and later lived with her sisters in California. Evelyn attended school in Arizona and California, later acquiring her GED and a year of college.

On Oct. 28, 1940, she married Elmer Richard Quadro in Reno, Nev. 

Evelyn was employed at the Emporium at Stanford University in California as an office worker. 

Her interests included crocheting, sewing, writing poetry, word puzzles, and genealogy. She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers Association and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She is survived by her husband Elmer, of 75 years of Thermopolis; daughters, Jessie (LeRoy) Shumway of Thermopolis and Janet (Gary) Weeter of West Valley City, Utah; 13 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and 12 great, great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Richard Allyn Quadro; brothers, Vernon, Alvin, Jess, Robert, and Norman; sisters, Blanche, Charlotte and Laura; and grandchildren, Spencer and Gailene Shumway and Janelle Weeter.

Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 4, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with Bishop Chris Paris officiating. Burial followed at Monument Hill Cemetery in Thermopolis.
