Support group seminar starts

If you or someone you know is currently struggling with the loss of a loved one and are looking for a faith-based support group, GriefShare could be the program for you.

GriefShare is a weekly seminar that meets for 13 weeks and helps to promote healing after the death of someone in your life. It is biblically based and delivers hope and support for those going through the grief process.

The group will be led by Miranda Nelson, a licensed minister with a Bachelor’s degree in social work. Harnessing her education and faith, Nelson will lead the group through interdenominational Christian-based teachings. A book will be provided to the group that will go hand-in-hand with the lessons of the 13-week course.

The participants will discuss God and using faith to combat the overwhelming stress and sadness that comes with the passing of a family member or friend, while encouraging participants to pray and create a support system among friends and family.

The program will begin on Jan. 14 and will run every Thursday until April 7. The program is free for those who wish to attend and is sponsored by the Hot Springs Hospice and the First Baptist Church.

Nelson added that it is not necessary for participants to come to every meeting. Each week will cover a different topic related to the grieving process.

All sessions are held at 645 Clark Street. For more information, call Chris or Pat Vosler at 864-5148 or Miranda Nelson at 277-7731.
