Jury finds Haire guilty

Nothing good comes from a case like this stated John P. Worrall the Washakie County Attorney. “One man was killed, another mans life is shattered” Worrall said during a phone interview about Anthony Haire and the conclusion of Haire’s trial for manslaughter and reckless endangerment.

The 12 member jury found Haire, 33, guilty on both counts after seven hours of deliberation. Worrall said he laid out the facts and left it up to the jury to determine Haire’s guilt or innocent.

Haire was arrested for shooting Jamye Sorrelle, 58, in April in Washakie County. Both Haire and Sorrelle are former residents of Hot Springs County.

Judge Robert E. Skar ordered a pre-sentencing investigation after the jury announced the verdict. The investigation could take 45-60 days to complete. For manslaughter, Haire faces up to 20 years in prison, a fine of $10,000 or both.
