Gloria Simmons charged with felony in Washakie County District Court

Gloria Simmons, 72, was bound over to Wyoming Fifth Judicial District Court in Washakie County for exploitation of a vulnerable adult.

Simmons is accused of taking control of Kenneth Simmons finances through intimidation, harassment and undue influence. Kenneth Simmons, 47, is the son of Gloria Simmons.

Kenneth Simmons receives benefits from the Veterans’ Administration, Social Security Income and has a job with Worland Home Healthcare and Rehab. He stated in a sworn affidavit, the VA covered his rent, cable, prescription medications and other living expenses.

Gloria Simmons allegedly had his SSI check mailed directly to her. Gloria also allegedly would insist on taking Kenneth to the bank to cash his check where he would turn over the money to his mother, only keeping what she would allow. Kenneth reportedly complained to NOWCAP staff that he did not have the funds to buy the things he needed.

The affidavit stated that when the defendant would visit the victim’s apartment, she and her sons would take all his household goods and food for themselves, leaving the victim without supplies.

There have been numerous reports to law enforcement of arguing between Gloria and Kenneth Simmons, dating all the way back to 2007.

An arraignment date for Gloria Simmons to enter her plea has not been set yet. If found guilty, Gloria Simmons could face ten years in prison and a fine up to $10,000 for this felony crime.
