On the Record policy

It is the Independent Record’s policy that all people arrested or cited under the “Accidents,” “Sheriff’s office” or “Police calls” in the On the Record section are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Sunday, Nov. 1

11:37 a.m. Report of vandalism in the Red Lane area. Resident had discovered their canvas garage had been damaged. A large cut had been made in one of the canvas panels.

Tuesday, Oct. 27

9:56 a.m. Two subjects, a male and female, jumped the fence and were swimming in the Star Plunge pool before business hours.

12:35 p.m. Report that a black bear had scaled the perimeter fence at the new airport and was running around. The bear crawled back over the fence and left the area.

3:23 p.m. Report of a lost wallet and purse in the area between Family Dollar and Days Inn.

5:15 p.m. Report of male and female arguing in the 100 block of Cedar Ridge. Law Enforcement officials diffused the situation. Both parties agreed to separate and not talk to each other for the rest of the night.

Wednesday, Oct. 28

12:49 p.m. Resident reported they received a sweepstakes check for the sum of $3,900 and when they tried to deposit the check, the bank informed them it was not legal tender.

2:16 p.m. Report of a suspicious syringe in a delivery from Amazon. The syringe was determined to be thermal paste for computer applications.

6:35 p.m. Report of a white Toyota being driven poorly all over the road with no headlights on by Lane 3 on Highway 20.

Thursday, Oct. 29

12:07 p.m. A cat was caught in a live trap in the 100 block of Broadway and taken to the vet clinic.

2:26 p.m. Report of a loud barking dog in the 100 block of Meadowlark Lane. The owner was contacted and quieted the dog.

Friday, Oct. 30

2:17 p.m. A vehicle being backed out of its parking spot in the 400 block of Arapahoe Street collided into a oncoming vehicle. A state accident report was filed.

5:39 p.m. Report of three juveniles playing near and on campers located in the 400 block of South 14 Street by the fire hall. Responding officer lectured the juveniles about respecting private property before letting them go.

11:30 p.m. Report of male and female arguing in the 700 block of Fremont. The couple had been consuming alcohol before the argument. When the male asked the female to calm down he was scratched on the face and bitten on the arm. Both agreed to separate for the night.

Saturday, Oct. 31

9:18 a.m. Report of a female trespassing onto private property to put her trash into a private dumpster on the property.

Sunday, Nov. 1

11:16 a.m. Report of a punctured bicycle tire and an inflatable Halloween decoration with several cuts in it in the 400 block of South 14th Street.

2:19 p.m. A male was served a notice of no trespass after being asked to leave and then returned back to the Senior Apartments.

5:29 p.m. A multi colored Ford was reportedly parked in the Family Dollar parking lot since 2 p.m. The store needed the vehicle moved for the delivery truck.

Monday, Nov. 2

9:17 a.m. Report that on Halloween night in the 1000 block of Warren Street a large inflated pumpkin had been slashed.
