Veterans Day programs planned

Three different events will be held in Thermopolis Wednesday, Nov. 11 in honor of Veterans Day.

The Thermopolis Middle School Student Council will host a Veterans Day program at 8:30 a.m. in the school auditorium.

The program will honor those who have selflessly fought for our country. Everyone is welcome to attend the free program.

The public is also invited to attend services honoring the first serviceman from Hot Springs County to die in battle on foreign soil.

The Hot Springs County Pioneer Association, in cooperation with Hot Springs State Park, is re-dedicating a memorial to Walter Manly Haynes on Veterans Day at 10 a.m. across the street east from the Plaza Hotel.

It is not a new memorial, but the existence of the stone monument has remained unnoticed for many year since it was dedicated, not only to Haynes, but to the local American Legion Post and kindred organizations.

Come and be part of history in the making, from the turn of the century when members of the Haynes family arrived in Hot Springs County to the ceremony on Nov. 11.

VFW Post 2281 will present a Veterans Day Service at 11 a.m. in front of the VFW at 302 Broadway. Veterans are invited to dinner at the VFW beginning at 6 p.m.
