Norris Odde, 88, died Thursday, Oct. 22, 2015, at Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital in Thermopolis following a period of declining health.
Born March 17, 1927, in Thermopolis, he was the son of Martin and Ann Marie (Sorensen) Odde. Following school, he worked various jobs including the Bureau of Reclamation for six years.
On May 21, 1950, he married Louise Walker in Thermopolis. Employed by Hot Springs County School District, he was head of maintenance at Hamilton Dome School where he also owned and drove the school bus. The school district transferred him into Thermopolis where he became transportation supervisor for the schools. Norris retired in 1986 after 33 years of service.
A 60 year member of Malta Lodge #17 he was Past Master of the Lodge. Norris had just received his 50 year pin from Eastern Star, Vesper Chapter #19. There he had served at Past Patron and was Past Grand Patron for the state of Wyoming. He was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. His interests including fishing and traveling.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years; daughter, Vicki (Doug) Nichols of Thermopolis; sons, Hans (Kelly) of Cody and Tim (Liz) Odde of Bullhead City, Ariz .; seven grandchildren; and 9 great- grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Nels, Harold, George, Martin Jr., James, Richard and sisters, Thelma and Lillian.
A celebration of Norris’ life was held Wednesday, Oct. 28 at Holy Trinity Episcopal. The Reverend Joe Galligan officiated. Masonic and Eastern Star services followed with burial at Monument Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Senior Citizens Center, 206 Sr. Dr., Hospice Foundation, P.O. Box 545 or the Hot Springs County Museum, 700 Broadway, Thermopolis, 82443.
