Donations needed for family after house fire

Dusky Getzfreid and her family have been left homeless and without possessions this week after their family home in Greybull went up in flames. Getzfreid said her house and all family’s possessions and vehicles were lost in the fire.

The family has been put in an even more difficult position; without insurance, the police will not investigate the fire and none of the family’s possessions will be replaced.

“When I woke up, one room was on fire,” said Xamyka Getzfreid, who was present when the fire started. “I just wanted to know what was going on.”

All of the six people in the house managed to escape, although Dusky’s boyfriend was burned in the fire and was transported to Billings by ambulance for treatment.

Dusky and her daughter Xamyka are asking for clothes, household items and anything else Thermopolis locals are willing to donate. “We need it all,” said Dusky.

Clothes donations would be appreciated in size 10/12 girls, size 8 boys, size medium or large shirts and pants in sizes 34x34 and 34x 30.

Donations can be dropped off from Monday to Friday, 8 a.m to 4 p.m at 127 South 7th Street in Thermopolis. Donations can also be made online at https://www.gofundme.com/sb77gf5r.

Dusky Getzfreid can be reached at (307) 202-1954.
