Orval Ownsby

Orval Don Ownsby, 65, died Saturday, Oct. 17, 2015, at Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital in Thermopolis after years of battling heart disease.

Born December 29, 1949, in Pampa, Texas, he was the son of Elmer and Effie Jo (Gregory) Ownsby. Raised in Oklahoma and Arizona, he worked as a chef then spent much of his life in the oilfields. Don came to Thermopolis in the late 1970's.

On March 21, 1992 he married Dorothea L. Edmonds in Thermopolis.

A caring man, he was a good cook, enjoyed gardening and made his own salsa.

His interests included hunting, fishing, camping and visiting with friends and family.

He is survived by his wife of 23 years; daughter, Sheri Bright of Tucson, Ariz .; brothers, Jimmy of Globe,Ariz. and Ray of Ariz .; sister, JoAnn Demoss of Utah; mother-in-law, Jan Edmonds of Thermopolis; and two grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at River of Life Fellowship Church Friday, Oct. 23 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Joe Moon officiating. Memorials may be made %Dorothea Ownsby, 1101 Sundown Dr, Thermopolis, 82443.
