Don Stanley Sailors, 76, of Red Feather Lakes, Colo., died Tuesday, September 7, 2015, at Pathways Hospice Care in Loveland, Colo.
Don was born April 19, 1939, in Ouray, Colo., the eldest child of Stanley and Louise Sailors. He grew up in Wyoming and graduated valedictorian from Thermopolis High School in 1956. In 1960 he graduated from the University of Wyoming with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Later that year he married Elizabeth (Bette). After a brief time with U.S. Steel in Provo, Utah, he enjoyed his career with Marathon Pipe Line Company. Projects in Wyoming, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Alaska, Texas, Louisiana, and Ireland kept his family on the move and made life exciting. Don was also a fine musician and his greatest joy was playing tuba with the Salt Creek Jazz Band of Casper, Wyo. Don was Western Division Manager when he retired from Marathon in Houston, Texas, to pursue golf in Red Feather Lakes, Colo. During retirement Don volunteered on the Board at Fox Acres Country Club and was treasurer of the Red Feather Fire Protection District. He and Bette attended The Chapel in the Pines. He enjoyed adding a humorous twist to conversations. He was earnest in his desire to always do the right thing.
He is survived by his wife, Bette, of Red Feather Lakes; sons Robert (Maryellen) of Kent, Wash., Ron (Faye) of Fremont, Calif .; grandchildren Naomi and Jesse; sister Judy; brother Steve; and many cousins
Don was preceded in death by his parents; and younger brother, David.
Memorial Service will be at The Chapel in the Pine in Red Feather Lakes on Friday, September 25, 2015, at 1:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Red Feather Lakes Fire Protection District.
