Tournaments, tournaments and more tournaments! The Bobcat Golfers have been very busy playing the greens. On September 4 they had a chance to play the Hay Creek Golf Course in Wright. This gave them a heads up for the up coming challenges when they go back at the end of the month for the State Tournament.
Coach Jacob Smith stated that, “While we didn’t perform as well as we wanted to as a team, we all got to see the course and are ready for another shot at it,” also mentioning that Caleb DeCroo was the teams stand out player with a respectable score of 87.
Next up for the team was Buffalo, with a huge number of golfers at 120 players, many from the best 3A and 4A teams.
The first day was rough for the team but they managed to pull together on the second day. Hudson Roling paced 7th with a score of 78-78. Coach Smith is proud of the improvements that Hudson has made, explaining that he has been playing well all season but he is peaking just in time for State. Caleb DeCroo also improved from his first day with a 99-88.
The lady golfers also had a good couple of days in Buffalo. Mya Holman had her best scores with 128-131. Kristina Nading dropped 17 strokes to shooting 121 on Friday.
Let’s not forget the freshmen, Coach Smith had this to say, “Austin Ireland and Jaxon Davis both put up great first tournament scores and I look forward to big things from them in years to come.”
This week we will have the home advantage, hosting the tournament here in Thermopolis on Thursday and Friday.
Coach Smith encourages the community to come and watch as our Bobcat Golfers show just what they got, confident in their ability to take on their home course.
Next week will bring the season to an end with the 2A State tournament in Wright.
