A new counseling and consultation office, run by a longtime Hot Springs County resident, has opened in Thermopolis.
Catherine Crumpler, who has worked in the mental health field for almost 30 years, has recently begun taking consultations at her 6th Street office. Crumpler, who has worked in Thermopolis as a mental health professional for over 17 years, says she has so far experienced "nothing but positive support" during the process of opening her own office.
Crumpler says she has loved her field ever since she took her first psychology class, which she describes as an "all encompassing discipline" featuring elements of "biology, math, history and sociology".
Psychology allowed Crumpler, who has always been fascinated by people, to discover the way individuals work and think. Throughout nearly 30 years, she has perfected this curiosity into a personalized service for adults in need of psychotherapy services.
"Each person is unique," she said. "While you may have a standardized protocol, each case is different."
The personalized service offered by Wisdom Tree starts even before the first session. Crumpler, in order to offer the best service possible to her clients, fills out all necessary HIPAA forms with her clients, offering explanations and step-by-step guidance and translating what she calls 'legalese' that is difficult to understand.
Once paperwork has been completed, one-on-one sessions at Wisdom Tree, like clinical assessment, therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Pain Management and Behavior Modification, can begin.
Although Wisdom Tree is an independent office with unique services, Crumpler has partnered with Gottsche Rehabilitation and Wellness to provide brief mental health services like stress reduction, pain management, and disability adjustment counseling to patients at the Gottsche facility in Thermopolis.
Wisdom Tree, which opened on September 1, is now accepting new clients. To make an appointment, call 921-3667. Crumpler requests that all prospective clients call before coming to visit so she can make sure the case will be within her area of expertise.
