The Hot Springs County High School football team lost their season opener against the Pinedale Wranglers on Friday 28-6.
"The kids played good," coach Rob Anderson said, adding, "We gave up a couple big plays early that had us playing catch up."
The Bobcats found themselves down 7-0 at the beginning of the second quarter, only to see the Wranglers score two more touchdowns before halftime.
The Bobcats looked like they were going to turn the momentum in their favor when they scored halfway through the third quarter, only to have their attempt at a two-point conversion fall incomplete, leaving them with six points to Pinedale's 21.
Pinedale managed to seal the Bobcat's fate by adding another seven points to the scoreboard, making it 28-6, shortly before a brief delay due to nearby lightning strikes during the third quarter.
Coach Anderson said that this week the Bobcats would "continue to work on our execution on the offensive side and pass defense on the defensive side" in preparation for the team's upcoming game against Wheatland here Friday at 7 p.m.
