Demolition Derby thrills

It was a capacity crowd once again for the annual Demolition Derby on Saturday night, sponsored by the Thermopolis-Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce.

The top four winners in the final crash of the night were all locals with Cory Bowman placing first, Zack Larson, second, Jason Bowman, third and Kurt Shaffer coming in fourth.

The truck derby got the crowd really rocking. Alan Woodward went home with first place, followed by Cody Hensley in second and Jesse Woodward in third.

The smaller version, Herbie Derby, had two divisions, both men's and women's.

For the men, Travis Long took home first place, with Dylan Shaffer taking second and Aaron Munger coming in third.

On the women's side, Barbara Munger placed first with Lisa Shaffer coming in second and Lindsay Hensley going home with third.

Lisa Shaffer was the winner of the Prettiest Car Contest.

Four Mad Dog awards were given during the night.

Reed Nettles took the Mad Dog title in the main heat with Travis Long in the men's Herbie, Lindsay Hensley in the women's Herbie, and Cody Hensley in the truck heat.

Other heat winners included Rob Laing and Cory Bowman in the first heat, Kylee Hart and Zack Larson in the second heat, John Cramer and Jason Bowman in the third heat and Kurt Shaffer and Stephen Flinn in the loser's heat.
