Back to school bells will be ringing Aug. 26

New pencils, new backpacks, new clothes, it must be the start of the 2015-16 school year.

Teachers have been busily getting their classrooms ready for the official start, which will be next Wednesday, Aug. 26 for all schools in the district. Classes start at 8 a.m.

In an effort to make the transition from middle school to high school a little easier on the incoming freshmen, they will have a “rolling” start with classes beginning for them on Tuesday, Aug. 25.

Parents of seventh grade students should plan to attend the seventh grade open house on Monday, Aug. 24 at the middle school from 4 – 5:15 p.m.

The high school will hold their open house the following day, Aug. 25, from 4 – 5:30 p.m. There will also be an ice cream social after the open house, from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m.

On Aug. 31, parents of fifth and sixth graders will have the opportunity to meet their child’s teacher at their open house event from 6 – 7:30 p.m.

A meet the teachers evening will also be held for seventh and eighth grade parents the following night, also from 6-7:30 at the middle school.

The high school golf team starts out the season today (Thursday) in Powell. They will also be playing on Friday, starting at 8 a.m.

The Bobcat Invitational Golf meet will be next week, the 27 and 28 at home.

The high school volleyball team will kick off their season next week as well, the 28 and 29, with a tournament in Douglas.

Cross Country runners will be in Cody on Friday, Aug. 28 at 4 p.m. for the start of their season and the high school football team will be at a scrimmage in Shoshoni at 6 p.m.

Middle school volleyball will have their first games against Burlington at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 29.
