It is the Independent Record’s policy that all people arrested or cited under the “Accidents,” “Sheriff’s office” or “Police calls” in the On the Record section are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Fire Department

Friday, August 7

9:45 a.m. Fire fighters responded to a motorcycle accident at the intersection of 6th Street and Shoshoni.

Sunday, August 9

8:43 p.m. Fire fighters responded to a motorcycle accident at mile marker 122 on Hwy 20 South.

Sherrif’s Office

Tuesday, August 4

 10:31 a.m. A deputy responded to a motor vehicle accident when a vehicle struck an antelope. No major damage to the vehicle was reported.

 3:16 p.m. A woman reported her daughter missing, but the girl was later found by her mother playing in a park near Gottsche.

3:19 p.m. An individual reported two computer tablets stolen from them. A deputy received a report of the incident and discovered the tablets had been given to the alleged thieving party and now would not give them back. The deputy informed the reporting party that the issue was a civil matter and should be handled in small claims court.

 9:21 p.m. A motor vehicle accident was reported after it struck a deer. There was no reportable damage to the vehicle.

Wednesday, August 5

 12:49 p.m. Someone reported a neighbor shooting at a dog they were watching when it escaped onto the neighbor’s property. A deputy informed the reporting party that if the dog was loose on the neighbor’s property that the neighbor could legally shoot at the dog.

1:55 p.m. A property owner reported two trucks trespassing. The trespassers said they were surveying for a pipeline. A deputy contacted the trespassers and told them to respect private property and ask for permission to cross first.

 3:50 p.m. An individual in a wheel chair complained that family took her cell phone and internet access and accused her of drinking. A deputy discovered that the individual had lost the cell phone and had been drinking. The deputy removed beer from the property and gave the individual contact numbers for assistance and counseling.

7:08 p.m. A possible drunk driver was reported. Deputies were unable to locate the vehicle.

Thursday, August 6

 2:55 p.m. Someone reported loose sheep on a road. When a deputy arrived at the location, the livestock were gone.

Friday, August 7

 9:31 a.m. - 10:42 a.m. An individual in a wheel chair placed several calls regarding being stuck in their home. A deputy informed the individual that in the future they needed to find someone else to assist them or call the hospital for assistance with domestic or health issues.

 2:44 p.m. Two vehicles were reported driving dangerously in town. The reporting party believed the drivers to be camping at Anchor Dam. A deputy reported to the campsite but did not find anyone.

 9:31 p.m. Someone reported a light blue or silver minivan with Florida plates speeding and swerving on the road. A deputy was unable to locate the vehicle.

Police Department

Tuesday, August 4

6:32 a.m. A concerned pet owner reported their dog being shot in the face with a pellet gun. The dog had been left on the back porch and the owner later noticed the dog bleeding and a pellet was retrieved from the wound. Officers have no leads at this time.

 6:31 p.m. An individual was issued a trespass notice for a residence after a recent divorce.

 6:37 p.m. Officers were alerted that an individual had been sending texts stating that they might harm themselves. An officer spoke with the individual and put a safety plan into effect along with contact numbers for help.

Wednesday, August 5

 12:47 a.m. A car was reported missing after being lent to the owner’s son and daughter-in-law and the two returned home intoxicated without the vehicle. An officer located the vehicle in a parking lot of a local hotel.

Thursday, August 6

 1:23 a.m. Someone reported smelling smoke in their neighborhood. An officer arrived in the area but did not find any sign of a fire.

 3:52 p.m. Someone reported their concern that the vendor selling peaches on 6th Street was a traffic hazard. An officer visited the location but did not find any hazard.

Friday, August 7

 9:42 a.m. Officers responded to a single motorcycle accident

at the intersection of 6th Street and Shoshoni when the motorcycle slipped on motor oil. A state accident report was filed and the driver received medical care.

 11:36 a.m. Someone reported aggressive behavior from the state electrical inspector for informational purposes and would file a report with the state.

 3:55 p.m. A Great Dane that had gotten loose several times was reported acting aggressively. An officer met with the dog’s owner and the owner agreed to keeping the dog better contained.

 6:30 p.m. A dog was reported entering a neighbor’s yard and biting the neighbor’s pant leg. An officer plans to speak with the dog owner.

 8:29 p.m. A vehicle was reported parked in front of a residence with the radio blaring music. The reporting party stated this had happened several times in the past, for hours at a time. An officer responded to the location but the vehicle was gone.

 8:37 p.m. Someone reported leaving a brown leather wallet at the 8th Street boat ramp. An officer reported to the location but was unable to locate the wallet.

Saturday, August 8

 9:57 a.m. An individual staying in a local motel found three bags of a leafy substance they presumed to be marijuana in their room. An officer arrived at the scene and confiscated the bags.

 7:25 p.m. Scratches were reported found all over an individual’s car. The reporting party believed the scratches appeared to have come from red landscape rocks and didn’t know if another tenant of the apartment complex could have done it. An officer took photos of the damage and filed a report.

 11:20 p.m. Several reports of fireworks were made but an officer was unable to locate the source.

Sunday, August 9

 9:19 a.m. Someone reported a vehicle driving all over the road. An officer located the vehicle but the driver was not found to be intoxicated.

 2:36 p.m. Suspicious young men standing under a bank awning were reported. An officer responded to the location and found that the young men were just standing in the shade but were asked to move on.

 8:10 p.m. An officer received a report of a possible drunk driver but was unable to locate the vehicle.

 8:39 p.m. A domestic cat was reported attacking its owners. An officer arrived at the residence and found the owners standing outside with a bloody wound on one arm. An officer entered the home and found the cat to be non-aggressive but as the cat was not vaccinated it was impounded for testing.

 9:36 p.m. An individual reported their car stolen after lending it their son to pick up a friend and the son’s phone was turned off. The vehicle was located and escorted home.

Monday, August 10

 6:15 p.m. A silver car was reported hitting a barrel by the bridge in East Thermopolis. An officer responded but the car was gone and the officer was unable to locate it.

Circuit Court

 Travis Bjornson attended an arraignment August 7 for failure to pay fines and has to pay fines by September 14 or be in court that afternoon.

 Joe Boyd has a sentence hearing on September 18 for his guilty charge of fraud by check.

 Rosalee Dawn Johnson has a preliminary hearing August 14 for theft/receiving and concealing property.

 Gerald Bilger had trial on August 7 and had all fines reinstated plus 118 days in jail. Once he receives an evaluation he may be released.

 Patrick Dewayne Little had an initial court hearing August 10 and a hearing set for August 17 for probation revocation.

Birth

 Maci Joy Langager was born Tuesday July 28, 2015 to Kaylee and Sam Langager of Absarokee, Mont. She weighed 7 lbs., 8 oz. and was 18.5 inches long. Grandparents are Jack and Ellen Baird and Tom Smith of Thermopolis and Sanford and Nancy Langager of Roberts, Mont. Great Grandparents are Denny and Caroline Jones of Thermopolis.
