Relay raises over $21,000

More than $21,000 was raised last weekend during the annual Relay for Life in Hot Springs State Park.

Organizers said the event went very well, and in spite of a bit of wind as things got started, the weather was great overall.

Things started off with a dinner for the survivors and their caregivers along with those participating in the relay.

Kids filled the area of the park where the relay was held, enjoying everything from a sprinkler park to face painting while the adults walked the course.

In remembrance of those who lost their battle with cancer, the luminary ceremony began shortly after dark with white bags, lit from within, lining the walking trail.

Top teams for the weekend were the "A Team" with $6,871 and "Kickin' Cancer" that brought in $4,973.

Top individual fundraisers were Kim Enis, who raised $3,803 and Connie Hoffman with $1,890 in individual pledges.
