WDC to celebrate 20 years

Join the party at the Wyoming Dinosaur Center’s 20th Anniversary celebration. Since the Dinosaur Center’s opening July 1, 1995 the museum has grown from first exhibits like “Stan” the T-Rex to current displays like the Archaeopteryx, and a busy museum lobby that has grown to booked summer programs like “dig for a day” on top of the busy lobby.

The Dinosaur Center is celebrating their success - that has been recognized by CNN as the #6 best dinosaur museum in the world – by hosting a three-day event for tourists and community members centered on the fascinating science of paleontology.

The celebration begins August 6 with a free presentation with speakers Laura Vietti, Brandon Drake, Ken Carpenter, and Pete Larsen starting at 6 p.m. at the high school auditorium. A reception will follow at the Dinosaur Center with food and a cash bar starting at 8:30 to 10 p.m.

Make sure to register for the following day’s (August 7) events starting at 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a kid’s dinosaur dig. At 5 p.m. the museum will present an archaeopteryx hologram and unveil a special exhibit. Evening activities will keep the party going at 7 p.m. with a Night at the Museum and costume contest for the best Indiana Jones from Raiders of the Lost Ark.

The last day, August 8, starts at 8 a.m. with a Dino Dash from the Wyoming Dinosaur Center to Hot Springs State Park (make sure to register for this event). The finale will include the Riverton Rock Club Show and Identification Program at 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.; bouncy houses and face painting at 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and a BBQ and dance starting at 6 p.m. til the party is over.

Come out and celebrate Thermopolis’ world-renowned Dinosaur Center where everyone can experience hands-on learning of all aspects of paleontology.
