Fire Department

Thursday, July 16

12:52 p.m. A grass fire was reported in the alley by Charter Communication.

Saturday, July 18

12:35 p.m. Fire department responded to a fire alarm that was set off at 110 East Broadway.

Sunday, July 19

3:18 p.m. An uncontrolled burn was reported at 718 Country Road.

Monday, July 20

12:38 p.m. Fire fighters responded to an ATV accident on East River Road.

8:34 p.m. Fire fighters responded to a grass fire at the North end of Springview Street. The fire was contained to approximately one acre. No one was injured and no structures were damaged.

8:39 p.m. Fire fighters responded to a grass fire.

Sheriff's Office

Wednesday, July 15

12:38 p.m. A dispute between a landlord and a tenant was reported. A deputy arrived and advised the issue was a civil matter and suggested actions that could be taken.

Thursday, July 16

10:45 p.m. Someone reported a traffic hazard on a highway. A deputy reported to the area and found a large piece of tire and removed it from the roadway.

Friday, July 17

8:15 a.m. A sex offender was reported residing in Hot Springs County that had not registered in the county. Information is being sent to the county attorney for further action.

Saturday, July 18

5:55 p.m. Robert Edwin Clifford, 57, was pulled over on Highway 120 W and after failing field sobriety tests he was arrested for driving under the influence.

Sunday, July 19

6:35 a.m. An attempted suicide was reported. The subject was taken to the hospital for care and protective custody.

Monday, July 20

12:47 a.m. Someone reported receiving a threatening phone call. A deputy called the person that made the phone call.

12:28 p.m. A four-wheeler accident was reported with two individuals with injuries. An ambulance was called to the scene and both individuals were transported to the hospital.

Police Department

Tuesday, July 14

4:14 p.m. Someone reported an intoxicated relative on their property. An officer arrived at the scene and assisted the intoxicated subject to their bedroom to sleep it off.

5:55 p.m. A black Midwest Trucking semi with South Dakota plates was reported tailgating and changing speeds recklessly while driving towards Riverton. An officer was unable to locate the semi.

6:37 p.m. Someone reported a 3 to 4 year old girl unsupervised in the street. An officer was unable to find the unattended child.

9:26 p.m. Someone reported an unoccupied trailer house with lights left on. An officer responded and found the residence locked with lights on, and alcohol bottles and miscellaneous items left in the house. No people were found in the residence.

10:35 p.m. Two adults were reported to be in a verbal altercation while drinking at a local establishment. An officer arrived. The adults claimed no physical violence had occurred but they would rent a room and keep the noise down.

Wednesday, July 15

7:07 a.m. An officer arrested Casey Bybee, 24, on a warrant from Washakie County for probation revocation.

1:09 p.m. A landlord reported that a tenant had recently moved out of a residence but two dogs were still in the yard. An officer responded to the location but did not find any dogs.

3:54 p.m. Someone reported a small, two-door, black vehicle driving recklessly on Richards Street. An officer was unable to locate the vehicle.

11:11 p.m. Excessive noise was reported coming from an apartment complex. An officer arrived at the location and made contact with the occupant who had gotten into an argument with a room mate. The occupant decided to stay in a different apartment to cool off and promised to keep the noise down.

11:38 p.m. An officer arrested Nicholas Homyak, 21, for a bench warrant from Hot Springs County.

Thursday, July 16

9:58 a.m. An officer responded to a motor vehicle collision at 6th Street and Mondell.

12:29 p.m. Someone reported a small, blue, two-door passenger car drifting sideways while driving at high speeds. An officer was unable to locate the vehicle.

Friday, July 17

9:49 a.m. An officer arrested Lara Halbert, 33, for a Hot Springs County warrant for probation violation.

5:30 p.m. An officer arrested William Branson, 53, for a Hot Springs County warrant for felony attempted strangulation and domestic violence.

6:13 p.m. An officer arrested Stacy Orton, 18, for a Hot Springs County Warrant for bond revocation.

9:25 p.m. Someone reported a maroon, Dodge dually truck that was being driven erratically and could not stay in their lane. An officer was unable to locate the vehicle.

11:55 p.m. The K9 unit was called out to a traffic stop for assistance. The K9 did not alert on anything in the vehicle.

Saturday, July 18

12:04 p.m. A trespass notice was requested for a property the individual did not own. An officer advised the individual that a trespass notice could not be served for property the person doesn't own or have control of.

3:47 p.m. A parent reported two siblings fighting. An officer arrived and spoke to the siblings and calmed them down.

8:34 p.m. Someone reported a threatening text. An officer referred the individual to the HOPE Agency for a protection order and contacted the person sending threatening messages.

10:07 p.m. Someone reported yelling in the trailer park near their home. An officer arrived at the location but was unable to locate the disturbance.

11:24 p.m. An officer conducted a traffic stop and, after asking the driver and passenger to step out of the vehicle, performed a portable breathalizer test on the passenger. The passenger was on probation and the driver was wearing an ankle monitor for federal probation being served in Montana. A report was forwarded to the city attorney office.

Sunday, July 19

12:08 a.m. Someone reported hearing possible gun shots on 5th Street. An officer responded to the area and found people setting off fireworks. The people were told to stop.

12:24 a.m. An officer responded to a fireworks complaint and heard a loud noise coming from within the apartment. The officer detected alcohol and performed a portable breathalizer test on three individuals from inside the apartment. Trystan Tuttle, 19; Kaden Wood, 19; and Autumn Smith, 18 were cited for minor in possession.

Monday, July 20

6:45 a.m. Someone reported an assault with the suspect still at the house. An officer arrived and found the assaulted party's ex-husband in the driveway. The couple had been in an argument the night before and into the morning. The ex-husband claimed he had not assaulted the woman. The couple continued to argue and the officer told them to quiet down or they would be arrested for breach of peace.

12:48 p.m. Someone reported a tractor trailer tailgating on Highway 20 South. The call was turned over to highway patrol.

Circuit Court

 Robert Clifford pled not guilty at his arraignment on July 20 for driving under the influence (DUI) and littering. His DUI charge was amended to DUI 3rd and a pretrial conference was set for July 27.

 Lyle McGinnis has a mandatory pretrial set for November 23 and a jury trial set for December 2 for charges of protection order violation.

 Thomas Van Mun has a jury trial set for December 2 for a charge of DUI.

Nicholas Homyak pled guilty to failure to appear warrant on July 17. He was sentenced 180 days in jail, 178 days suspended with credit for 2 days, one year supervised probation, $1000 fine suspended, $40 court costs, and $150 victim compensation.

Lara Halbert appeared before a judge on July 17 for probation revocation. Her probation was revoked and 144 days in jail were reinstated with credit for one day.

William Branson pled not guilty at his arraignment on July 20. A pretrial preliminary hearing is set for July 27 for charges of domestic battery and strangulation of a household member.
