This weekend marks one of the busiest of the summer for Hot Springs County, bringing in alumni, history buffs, horses, golfers and even a parachutist.
Things kick off with former Golden Knight and double amputee, Dana Bowman dropping in to the football field as part of the Hot Springs County Library’s “Superheroes” summer reading program.
Bowman arrives on scene at 11 a.m. on Friday.
Hot Springs County High School alumni will begin arriving on Friday, too, with a plethora of activities going on from class mixers and dinners to the all class picnic in Hot Springs State Park on Sunday.
Current and former residents of Grass Creek will be having their reunion at the Hot Springs County museum on Saturday, starting at 10 a.m.
If you’re into history, Kirby will be celebrating the 100th anniversary of their becoming a town on Saturday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. There will be tours of the town and the historic landmark jail as well as refreshments, stories and photographs throughout the afternoon.
If sports is more your thing, there is the “Has Beens” basketball game at the high school on Saturday at 1 p.m. featuring an age-old rivalry between the Bobcats and the Worland Warriors.
Or maybe you’re into golf.
The Thermopolis Golf Course will be having a “British Open Pro-Am” golf tournament on both Saturday and Sunday. Tee off will be at 9 a.m. Saturday morning.
Hot Springs County Fair is just around the corner and one of the first events will be held this Saturday, the horse show, which will begin at the fairgrounds at 8 a.m.
What a weekend!
Everyone get out there and enjoy the beautiful weather (I hear it’s supposed to be a little cooler), the fun and all the activities being offered this weekend in Thermopolis!
