Jacob Monroe Linn, 61, passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2015, while enjoying a motorcycle ride in the Wind River Canyon.
Jacob was born and raised in St. Petersburg, Fla. Andrea and Jacob Linn met as performers at the Bay Area Renaissance Festival in Largo, Fla., and were married in December of 1984. Serving two honorable tours of duty during the Vietnam era with the U.S. Navy as a corpsman and biological photographer, Jacob attributed his recovery from the stressors of service to his supportive wife and finding the spiritual path of the American Indian “Red Road”. In addition to his military service he earned a B.S. degree in anthropology from the University of South Florida in Tampa.
While in Florida, Jacob, also known as Jacob Eagle Eyes, began “The Two Worlds” radio program for the WMNF community radio station in which he promoted Native American music, musicians and cultural information. On July 26, 2015, at 7 p.m. on http://www.WMNF.org, the two-hour show will be dedicated to Jacob for his support of the Native American culture.
Jacob had a love for making art through photography and won many awards for his outstanding depictions and interpretations. Many of his works have been displayed in various galleries and publications.
He and Andrea transplanted to Thermopolis, Wyo. in 2002. Jacob loved Thermopolis as it reminded him of growing up in the then small town of St. Petersburg where friendship and respect from your neighbor is commonplace.
Friends and family gathered from around the country for a private ceremony to honor his memory.
