Helen Simpson

Helen Ann Simpson, 73, died Wednesday, June 24, 2015, at Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital in Thermopolis.

The tenth of fourteen children, Helen was born November 11, 1941, in Beaver Dam, Wis. to Harry and Agnes (Wuestoff) Malchow. She grew up in Hartford, Wis. graduating in the 1950's during the era of Rock n' Roll.

On March 7, 1958, she married Thomas Simpson in Hartford. The couple moved west eventually settling in Riverton, Wyo. After Tom's retirement they had many adventures living in several states. In 2005 they moved to Thermopolis.

Throughout the years, Helen's occupation as housekeeper found her in the home of Chet Huntley working for two years; on the staff that served Thanksgiving dinner for the Al Gore family; and being employed at hotels and private residences. In the last years of her life she cared for her disabled brother, LeRoy.

A member of Hot Springs Christian Church in Thermopolis she had an unshakable faith and was known as the "rock" of her family.

She is survived by her three sons, Timothy of Greeley, Colo., Dennis, Lander, Wyo., and Boyd Simpson, Littleton; daughter, Kimberly Simpson of Lander; brothers, Gerald and LeRoy Malchow; sisters, Marion Fritz, Patsy Malchow and Judy Malchow; nine grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband in 2006; grandson, Joshua Simpson; brothers, Lester, Lloyd, Harry, Donald, Roger and Earl Malchow; and sisters, Betty Guernt and Joann Wegner.

Funeral services were Monday, June 29, 2015, at the Hot Springs Christian Church in Thermopolis with Pastor Daryl Lottman officiating. Burial followed at Riverside Cemetery.
