HSCHS students represent top 10 percent in ACT scores

Hot Springs County High School recently achieved extra bragging rights for the 2016 graduating class.

In April 42 junior classmen took the ACT, a national college admissions exam that tests students in English, mathematics, reading and science, along with approximately 1,845,000 other students across the country. Out of this giant pool of young people, the following six students from HSCHS achieved a composite score in the nation’s top 10 percent: Kayla Anderson, Amanda Dinsmore, Darren Leonhardt, Linsey Reed, Zoe Stone and Courtney Yarrington.

An average ACT score is 21 out of a possible 36 points. This impressive ranking means that these students were among the top students nationwide who scored a 28 or higher.

HSCHS encourages all students to take the ACT and assists students by offering an ACT Prep Program where students are able to take practice tests preparing them for type of questions and structure of the test.
