8:35 p.m. Firefighters responded to a call about a smell of smoke at 150 East Arapahoe.

Friday, May 29

1:06 p.m. Firefighters responded to a carbon monoxide sensor going off at Grand View Space 11.

Sheriff’s office

Wednesday, May 27

11:17 a.m. A local taxpayer received a message from the Internal Revenue Service. The IRS told them that someone had tried to file a tax return in their name. The person was asked to make a report with local authorities.

Friday, May 29

12:47 p.m. Deputies received a call about an injured antelope near mile marker five on Highway 120 West.

Saturday, May 30

10:47 a.m. A sheriff’s deputy saw a person who he thought had a warrant out for his arrest. Police officers assisted. The person was approached and told they had a warrant out for their arrest. The person then tried to walk away from police. He was unable to get away and was apprehended by law enforcement officials. A scuffle ensued, followed by subsequent scuffles while taking the man into county jail.

Steven Jellis, 19, was arrested on a Washakie County Warrant.

5:09 p.m. A Deputy was contacted by someone at Southside Exxon. The caller said he was scared for his life, and that people were out to get him. He told the deputy he had a warrant out for his arrest from Montana and asked to be arrested so that he would be safe. He also admitted to using methamphetamine earlier in the day.

David Dale Howe, 40, was arrested on admission of use of methamphetamine.

10:02 a.m. Report of vandalism in the Sage Valley Area. Three boys were reported breaking vehicle windows.

Sunday, May 31

12:06 a.m. Deputies received a report of a theft at 204 Highway 20 South. A PlayStation Vita with four to five games was stolen along with a smart phone. A deputy talked to other campers in the area and no one noted anything suspicious.

3:52 a.m. Someone reported someone else being suspicious near mile marker 166 on Highway 20 South. A deputy responded but was unable to find anyone looking suspicious.

9:33 a.m. Kevin Dean Norcutt, 28, was arrested on a Natrona County Warrant.

12:10 p.m. Two males were found trespassing in the Copper Mountain area of Buffalo Creek.

Anthony Lawrence Norcutt, 28, and Kevin Dean Norcutt, 28, were cited for trespassing.

1:20 p.m. Someone was speeding near mile marker 140 on Highway 20 North. A deputy caught up with the driver and warned them for speeding.

Monday, June 1

1:46 p.m. A deputy was requested at the Hot Springs County District Court.

Tuesday, May 26

10:33 a.m. A person reported unauthorized use of their bank account. The bank told them to file a report locally.

1:46 p.m. A green four-wheeler was traveling at high speeds and heading towards the state park. Officers were unable to locate the vehicle.

6:28 p.m. Police received a complaint of long weeds in a yard. The owner is being contacted.

6:56 p.m. Someone received a harassing text message from their ex wife and reported it to police.

7:34 p.m. Someone was seen in public and appeared to be intoxicated. Police made contact with the person.

11:38 p.m. Police received a report of an assault at a local motel parking lot. When officers arrived, two males and one female approached them. The woman was cursing and her sweatpants were covered in mud. The officer smelled alcohol on her breath. She and one of the males had just broken up. She had struck her ex boyfriend twice on the jaw. The male said she hadn’t hurt him but he was tired of it.

Hollie Smith, 23, was cited for battery and domestic assault.

Wednesday, May 27

8:44 a.m. Someone cut down a tree and put the branches and wood near the town shop –near a sign saying dumping wood there was prohibited. An officer talked to the people who did it and they sent their son to remove the wood and branches.

8:59 a.m. Someone complained about heavy equipment being used in the parking lot adjacent to Mac’s Bar before 7 a.m.

12:06 p.m. Someone complained about someone who rides their motorcycle at high speeds through their neighborhood and creates a lot of noise in the process.

2:13 p.m. The police department filed a stalking report and sent it to the county attorneys office. The report was made about someone who was engaged in long-term behavior.

3:18 p.m. Police heard a dispute between two people about the purchase and storage of a shed. One of the individuals wanted a trespass notice served against the other person. The shed was sold.

3:35 p.m. A car accident between two cars was reported to the police. No injuries were sustained.

7:13 p.m. A person complained that BNSF workers were making noise all night.

9:42 a.m. Police responded to a complaint of an overgrown lawn. The lawn was mowed by the property owner.

10:18 a.m. Police responded to a complaint of an overgrown lawn. The lawn was mowed by the property owner.

10:20 Police responded to a complaint of an overgrown lawn. The property owner was contacted.

2:58 p.m. Two people were served with a trespass notice from a local motel.

5:10 p.m. A person wanted a loan and found an alleged fraudulent loan company online. The company asked them to send a $500 money gram before they could get their loan. When the money gram was sent, they were told the company needed another $400. When that money gram was sent they were told they needed to send another $600. They then said no and asked for their money back. The company said the money would be returned in 21 days. Police believe the person has been a victim of a scam.

Friday, May 29

8:29 a.m. A person reported his girlfriend had stolen money from him. They had been living together last summer and she had deposited one of his checks into her bank account. Officers made a report and told the man it should be handled in civil court.

10:20 a.m. A person reported having a woman in his home he wanted to leave. He wanted her trespassed from the property. Police told the man it was a civil matter and could be taken to court.

1:15 p.m. Police responded to a complaint of an overgrown lawn. The lawn was mowed by the property owner.

3:53 p.m. A white Ford was seen driving at high speeds and passing cars in a no passing zone.

5:25 p.m. A blue and silver Razor scooter was stolen from Candy Jack Park.

Saturday, May 30

12:56 a.m. A person was getting threatening messages via social media. The person receiving the messages wanted them documented.

1:38 p.m. Two light fixtures were damaged at the senior apartments in East Thermopolis. One resident had heard it but hadn’t seen anything take place.

1:45 p.m. Police responded to a complaint of an overgrown lawn. The owner said she didn’t have a lawn mower or money to pay someone else to mow. Police gave her information on who to contact.

1:47 p.m. Police responded to a complaint of an overgrown lawn. The lawn was mowed by the property owner.

5:54 p.m. A person reported hearing a baby crying and screaming. When an officer arrived they were unable to locate the baby.

10:31 p.m. A person’s car was hit when they were at the Paintbrush Inn. The incident was a hit and run.

11:22 p.m. A person parked their trailer on another person’s private property. The trailer owner has not been located.

11:49 p.m. A person in another apartment was making too much noise. Police located the people making noise and they agreed go inside.

Monday, June 1

2:41 a.m. Police received a report of a possible drunk driver. An officer eventually found the vehicle parked in front of the owners residence.

2:45 p.m. Someone reported someone knocking on her windows. When officers arrived they could not find anyone.

8:59 a.m. Police responded to a complaint of an overgrown lawn. The owner is in the process of being notified.

11:23 a.m. A person in another community was threatening to cause harm to themselves during a phone conversation with a local. The local reported the incident to the local police so that they could pass the report to the other persons police.

3:34 p.m. The storage units at Fifth and Warren Streets were damaged. It appeared someone had been trying to gain access to them but had failed to do so.

6:40 p.m. BNSF broke a hydrogen hose in the canyon and hydraulic fluid had spilled into the river.

Circuit Court

Keith Bapst was arrested following a probation revocation and was given a $2,000 cash bond.

Steven Jellis (JJ) was arrested following on a Washakie County Warrant and was given a $2,000 cash bond for resisting arrest.

David Howe was given a $750 cash bond following his arrest for use of methamphetamine.

Hollie Smith was given a $2,500 signature bond following her arrest for domestic assault.

Gary Jermoe Antelope pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol and was given 180 days in jail, $390 in fines and fees. He also pleaded guilty to property destruction and was given 30 days in jail with 30 suspended, and was charged a $40 court fee.

Jeremy Clyde Smith pleaded guilty to battery and was given 60 days in jail with 39 suspended and credit for 21 days, six months unsupervised probation and $490 in fines and fees.
