Meeteetse Museums will be hosting its free annual tour to Legend Rock State Archaeological Site on Saturday, June 6, as well as a “pre-tour” presentation on June 5.
The June 6 tour will be led this year by renowned archaeologist Dr. Larry Loendorf. Loendorf is an archaeologist whose research focuses on the Great Plains, the U. S. Southwest, ethnography, and rock art.
The Saturday tour leaves the Meeteetse Museum at 9 a.m. sharp and begins on site (at Legend Rock State Archaeological Site) at 10 a.m. Car-pooling from the museum will be available. You may meet the group at Legend Rock and register for the tour there if that is more convenient.
Participants are expected to bring a sack lunch and plenty of water. While the walk is no more than 200 yards, hiking shoes or sneakers are recommended.
A pre-tour presentation is scheduled for the night before, on Friday, June 5 at 7 p.m. at Meeteetse Museums, located at 1947 State Street..
