4-H presentation awards announced

Hot Springs County 4-H held their annual presentation contest last Friday at the Hot Springs County Extension office.

Ten youngsters participated in the event including three in the senior division, two in the intermediate division, four juniors and one Cloverbud.

Daniel Leonhardt was awarded Grand Champion in the senior division with his presentation on wooden bows. Jeremy Gibbel won Reserve Champion for instructions on cast iron cleaning. Liz Rhodes took home a blue ribbon for her demonstration on how to show a horse.

In the intermediate division Hardy Johnson was named Grand Champion with "Golf: The Ultimate Game", followed by Reserve Champion Russell Gibbel who showed how to make monkey bread in a dutch oven.

Hadley Johnson took home Grand Champion honors in the junior division with a presentation on fishing flies. Hallie Martinez is Reserve Champion for her discussion of poisonous plastics. Owen McCumber won a blue ribbon with "Some Tools to Tie Some Flies" and Duke Gibbel was awarded a red ribbon for his demonstration on purifying water if you need to survive the outdoors.

Six-year old Hayden Johnson, a Cloverbud, decided he wanted to participate as well after seeing his brothers preparing for the event. He was awarded a purple ribbon with his presentation on different bows and arrows.
