The annual Wyoming Reads celebration for first graders will take place in Thermopolis Monday, May 18.
The celebration will include the distribution of books to first graders at Ralph Winters Elementary School, Risen Son Christian School and home school students by Hot Springs County Library representatives.
A fairytale about “The Good Queen Sue,” a tribute to Sue Jorgensen, in whose memory the event was established, will be presented.
During the celebration, each student receives a hardback book of their very own, donated by the Sue Jorgensen Library Foundation. Earlier this year, children had the opportunity to choose one of six books offered through the program.
Each student will also receive a copy of the book “Wyoming Firsts” by Wyoming First Lady Carol Mead.
