Iota Tunks

November 28, 1925 - April 24, 2015

Iota May Tunks, 89, passed away Friday, April 24, 2015, at the Thermopolis Rehabilitation and Care Center where she had resided since July, 2014.

Born November 28, 1925, in Crosby, Wyo., she was the daughter of John and Ethel (Collins) Ralph. She grew up with five brothers.

On July 4, 1943, she married Bill Leon Tunks in Red Lodge, Mont. To this union was born two children. When the couple lived in Lander, she was a clerk at the Ben Franklin store. She then worked as a cook on several ranches including 20 years at the Pallet Ranch owned by the Hunts of Texas. After retirement, Mr. and Mrs Tunks moved to Harlingen, Texas. Iota returned to Thermopolis in the early 2000’s.

Iota enjoyed crocheting, knitting and crafts.

She is survived by her brother, John Ralph of Ramona, Calif .; grandson, Billy; and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Bill, in 1990; son, Billy; daughter, Iota; brothers, Aaron, Burt, Franklin and Richard; and a grandchild, Lannie.

Funeral services were Thursday, April 30, 2015, at Mortimore Funeral Home with Pastor Harvey Seidel officiating. Burial followed at Riverside Cemetery.
