Fire calls
Monday, April 13
2:33 p.m. Firefighters received a call for a fire alarm at 116 E Park. It was a false alarm.
Sheriff’s office
Thursday, April 9
12:38 p.m. Someone reported a possible scam. They received a call from someone claiming to be Publishers Clearing House. The caller said they needed $750.11 to pay the taxes on the award.
4 p.m. Deputies assisted Probation and Parole. After following the check, a deputy got a search warrant and searched a home. They found drugs and drug paraphernalia.
Kenneth B. Smith, 52, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine.
Christin McGowan, 34, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine.
Saturday, April 11
12:41 p.m. Someone reported a vehicle parked on the roadside near mile marker 126 on Highway 20 North. Children were playing on the railroad tracks near the vehicle.
4:05 p.m. There was a dispute between two neighbors over water on the 1100 block of Skelton Road. Deputies were called because of a physical confrontation that was starting to occur.
Bradley L. Peil, 37, received a civil summons to court for unlawful touching; assault.
Monday, April 13
5:42 p.m. Someone reported a person walking south on the side of the highway because they appeared suspicious. Deputies were unable to locate the person.
Police calls
Tuesday, April 7
11:57 a.m. A vehicle turning off 11th Street into an alley hit another vehicle and a fence. There was some damage to the fence and to the second vehicle’s license plate.
5:05 p.m. Police recieved a call about an argument between two adults. The argument was alledgedly about a mess that the female’s two-yeard-old child had made. The called alleged that the man had kicked the child during the argument. The man was arrested in Shoshoni for driving under the influence and the police report has been handed over to the county attorney’s office.
5:22 p.m. Police received a call about a possible scam. Caller said that the person would be facing a lawsuit from the IRS. The caller asked for personal information.
Wednesday, April 8
8:14 a.m. Unknown people gained access to one of the State Park’s pools. They took a basketball hoop and five chairs, and threw them into the pool.
4 p.m. Charles Granger, 53, was arrested on a bench warrant from Sheridan County.
11:54 p.m. People were seen climbing on trucks and equipment in a construction company parking lot.
Thursday, April 9
8:37 a.m. Someone who had been watching their neighbor’s home called the police department because their neighbor’s back door looked open. Police checked the house and made sure the building was secure before leaving.
7:12 p.m. Someone saw a child get pushed down by another child and called the police. When officers arrived, the children were gone.
Friday, April 10
11:55 a.m. A motel owner called the police because they had found one of their beds with a bunch of stab wounds in the mattress. It was a company employee’s room and the company was contacted and told they could either pay or the motel would press charges.
2:15 p.m. Three dogs were running at large. A neighbor saw them and called the police. When officers went to the home of the alleged owner, they said they only had one dog.
The officer told the alleged owner to make sure to put a leash on their dogs, however many.
6:26 p.m. Someone was revving the engine of what sounded like a motorcycle and neighbors were annoyed. Officers were unable to locate the vehicle.
6:44 p.m. Someone reported their bike stolen. It was a red Genesis 21 speed bicycle.
Saturday, April 11
12:21 p.m. A red SUV with 10 County plates backed into a Nissan and drove away. The driver was located and said they didn’t know they hit anyone.
Sunday, April 12
12:52 a.m. Someone could hear a baby crying in a neighbor’s home and called the police. Officers were unable to locate the crying baby.
6:02 p.m. Someone found a grocery bag that had been tied in a knot. The person could tell there was paraphernalia in the bag and turned it into police.
11:10 p.m. Someone said they saw three boys standing by a neighbor’s car, and when they saw her they took off running. Police talked to one of the parents of the alleged children, but they claimed their child, who was identified by the caller, wasn’t involved.
Monday, April 13
7:13 a.m. A mountain bike was stolen. It was blue with black and yellow lettering and had been taken out of a yard.
6:49 p.m. A black, blue, and white Huffy bike was reported stolen.

Christin McGowan was given a $20,000 cash bond following his arrest for possession of a controlled substance.
Kenneth Smith was given a $10,000 cash bond following his arrest for possession of a controlled substance.
Charles Granger was given a $500 signature bond following his arrest on a Sheridan County warrant.
