    As the Bobcat golf team heads into the mid-point of the season, head coach Jacob Smith gives us a recap of how the team has been doing so far. The Cats started the spring season in Worland on April 15 and Smith said, after a rough two starting holes, senior Hudson Roling pulled his game together and shot an impressive 79. “The rest of the high school golfers also performed very well,” Smith said, “shooting in their low average range, an impressive feat for the first spring tournament.” Scores...

    It is time to get your team together and get registered for this year’s Hot City Summer Slam 3-on-3 tournament, May 26 and 27. Hosted by the Bobcat Booster Club with all proceeds going to Bobcat Athletics, the tournament is held in the high school parking lot. There are several different age groups for those 10 and younger as well as those 30 and older.   • McDermott breaks track record at Lovell

    Last week saw the Hot Springs County High School track team at two events, with the Riverton Twilight on April 19 and the Lovell Invite on April 21. During the latter of the two events, Haley McDermott set a new school record with a fifth place height of 8'7" in the pole vault. The previous record of 8'6" was set in 2001 by Jaimee Willis.     On Friday, April 27 Special Olympics Wyoming athletes from Cody, Ft. Washakie, Lander, Powell, Riverton, Thermopolis and Washakie County will compete at Area I Summer Games in Cody. This competition is in preparation for the State Summer Games that will be in Laramie on May 17-19, 2018.     No. 3 Vicklund Pharmacy and No. 4 Merit were set to compete for the Hot Springs County Rec District Adult Co-Ed Basketball Championship on Wednesday, April 25. Though the No. 1 Red Rock team was expected to be vying for the championship, having been undefeated the entire season, April 18 saw their first defeat with a 46-44 loss to Merit.     The Thermopolis Middle School track team had another busy week, hosting a triangular with Worland and Ten Sleep in Thermopolis on Thursday, April 19, then travelling to Riverton for the Spartan Invitational on Saturday, April 21.     Tis Spring, when a young man’s heart turns to baseball. Registration for Hot Springs County’s Recreation District youth baseball is running now, through May 4. Boys and girls, ages six and older may sign up. There is tee ball for the six and seven-year olds, coach pitch for the eight and nine year olds, minors for those 10-11 and majors for those 12 and older.
