    The Bobcat Golf Team rounded out their third week of competition by bringing home some "hardware" from the Newcastle Tournament as well as the Upton Tournament. Coach Joey Johnson said the Newcastle tourney was the first time they've been up against all the 2A teams and gave them some idea of what they need to work on and where they sit in the running for the 2A State Championship in September.     The Lady Bobcat volleyball team is rearing to go after spending their summer working incredibly hard with open gyms, weight room work, camps and scrimmages.     Last Friday, the Bobcat Cross Country season kicked off with the Kelly Walsh Beartrap meet at Casper Mountain. Coach Stephanie Metz said the Varsity girls had huge improvements, dropping multiple minutes from their previous times and staying strong through the whole race. Tahja Hunt finished 11th with a time of 22:17.34, McKenna Bomengen finished 17th with 22:54.97 and Olivia Weyer finished 44th with 24:53.53.     The Bobcat golf team had their second of six meets for the fall season this past weekend, a split tourney between Worland and Powell. Day one found the team hitting the greens in Worland with Hardy Johnson scoring a 71 for the day, followed by Jeffry Clark with a 92. Lee Grimm shot a 132 for the day and Jean-Luc Willson hit 161.     The Hot Springs County High School and Thermopolis Middle School cross country students began practice on Monday, Aug. 13, with their first official meet being the Kelly Walsh Invite this Friday.     The Bobcat Golf Team started their fall season under new coach Joey Johnson last weekend with a two-day tournament in Cody and Powell. According to Johnson, this is the first of six meets the Cats will have this fall and while they placed 10th, they were up against schools like Natrona County, Kelly Walsh, Sheridan, Gillette and several other schools much larger than we are.     For young students looking to get in on some sports action, registration is currently open for the Hot Springs County Recreation District’s youth football and volleyball programs. The football program is for students in first through sixth grade during the 2018-19 school year. The fee is $35, with a $55 equipment deposit.
