    This past Saturday, the Thermopolis Middle School wrestling team saw their first competition for the season. Coach Toby Emery stated there were 22 wrestlers out, and though only 14 participated in the opener in Lovell he expects the rest to compete this coming weekend in Buffalo.     Thermopolis Middle School girls basketball kicked off their season with a complete nail-biter against Lander last week, going into double overtime for the A team. Head coach Ginger Ward said the girls fell 18-20, but they took care of the ball extremely well with very few turnovers.     Here 4 Exercise was the first team eliminated from the Hot Springs County Rec District’s Adult Coed Volleyball League on Wednesday, Oct. 24, following a 2-1 loss against Setting Ducks. Though Here 4 Exercise won the first match 25-23, Setting Ducks took the next two 25-8 and 25-20. Setting Ducks faced Gassed by Gottsche later in the evening, losing the first round 25-15 but winning the second 25-20, before Gottsche won the set with a 25-14 victory.     The Bobcats came away with a huge win last Friday night, with a score of 42-16 over Burns. Coach Matt McPhie said this win pushes their conference record to 3-3 and qualifies them for state playoffs.     The Thermopolis football team came home with a win after shutting out Newcastle 66-0 Friday night. Coach Matt McPhie said overall the team played well and definitely were more physical on the field.     Last Friday, middle school cross country students travelled to Powell for their conference meet, their final competition for the season. Coach Stephanie Metz said it was a great meet with a nice, flat course and the students are familiar with it for the most part. “We had some good races,” Metz said, noting Dazlynn Hunt’s keeping up with a Lander competitor and splitting a 6:03 in the first mile.
