Hot Springs County Recreation will be holding Little Hitters Volleyball, starting Tuesday, October 15. Little Hitters is for kindergarten through second grade with a focus on basic skills. The Lady Bobcat volleyball team headed to Newcastle last week and according to coach Shannon Hill, they "played their hearts out", winning in three with grit and perseverance. The National Barrel Horse Association conducted its Wyoming finals in Rock Springs this past weekend. Last Saturday, the high school cross country team got to test their legs during the state preview meet in Afton. Coach Brandon Deromedi said Glenrock was a tough course, but the boys managed to place first by 37 strokes. The Thermopolis Bobcats and Lovell Bulldogs joined forces last week to host the Cats and Dogs invitational golf tourney on Thursday and Friday. The first day the teams played on the course in Lovell, finishing things up on Friday in Thermopolis, giving the Cats a bit of a home field advantage. A new activity available in town could be your ticket to a nationally recognized sport, the Professional Disc Golf Association. Frank Luna, who attended Hot Springs County High School in the 70s, started playing disc golf about 15 years ago at the urging of his son. Luna had been in the Navy right out of high school and found himself as a national recruiter for a trucking company and overweight.
