The youngest, up and coming Bobcats have the opportunity to get some football reps in with the Jr. Bobcat Football Camp and Youth Football, both sponsored by the Hot Springs County Recreation District. Thirty years ago, youth from across Wyoming attended the first Big Horn Basin Football Camp in Thermopolis under the direction of coaches LeRoy Hayes and Rick Vancleeve. Gary Glenn started the football camp in Riverton as the Central Wyoming Football Camp and when it was time for him to retire, Hayes and Vancleeve “didn’t want to see it die”, and brought it to Thermopolis. The Bobcat golf team traveled to Sheridan last Friday and Saturday for their 2A Conference Golf Championship, bringing home third place overall behind Kemmerer (1st) and Lusk (2nd). Twenty Thermopolis Middle School athletes competed at the Big Horn Best of the Best in Cody on May 7, with several taking high spots in their events. The Bobcat Golf Team played their fourth tournament for the spring in Cody last Friday, competing against six schools, coming out with a second place finish. Lander Valley High School placed first with an overall total of 312, the Cats posted 395 and Riverton rounded out the top three with a 409 for the day. Thermopolis was home to the middle school Yellowstone Conference this past Saturday, with several students taking conference championships in their events.
