Though there were no local riders competing, many who travel to compete in the NBHA races throughout the year were at the state competition.     Last Saturday, the high school cross country team got to test their legs during the state preview meet in Afton. Coach Stephanie Metz said it was good to see the course. “It was everything that we’ve been told.     It’s been a busy week for Bobcat Ladies Volleyball with all three teams going to Powell last Thursday night, the freshmen girls were at home against Cody on Friday night and then turned around and headed to Buffalo for a tournament on Saturday.     The Bobcat golf team had another great outing last weekend with a trip across the state to compete in Glenrock and Lusk. Coach Brandon Deromedi said Glenrock was a tough course, but the boys managed to place first by 37 strokes. Lusk was a tough day for all Bobcat golfers, but Deromedi said they again managed to sneak away with the boys winning the tournament by seven strokes. Hardy Johnson placed first in both tournaments.     The 2019 Hot Springs County Rec District Co-ed Volleyball League got underway this past Wednesday, with seven teams competing this year including: 2 Legit 2 Hit, Owl Creek, Beavis and Bumphead, Gassed by Gottsche, How I Set You Mother, Lord Have MRSA and Kikyapunkas. Getting the first wins of the night was 2 Legit, going 26-24, 25-19 and 25-17 against How I Set. Gassed got themselves three wins as well, taking down Kikyapunkas 25-13, 25-12 and 25-11.     The Thermopolis Bobcats and Lovell Bulldogs joined forces last week to host the Cats and Dogs invitational golf tourney on Thursday and Friday. The first day the teams played on the course in Lovell, finishing things up on Friday in Thermopolis, giving the Cats a bit of a home field advantage. The Lovell course is a shorter course and features a lot of hazards, which gave the Cats some trouble with hitting the ball both straight and accurate.     It was a hard opening for the Thermopolis Bobcats as they fell 40-27 against Big Horn Friday night. Corpening said the offensive line was able to move the ball well, but when they got into the “red zone” they struggled to score.     A new activity available in town could be your ticket to a nationally recognized sport, the Professional Disc Golf Association. Frank Luna, who attended Hot Springs County High School in the 70s, started playing disc golf about 15 years ago at the urging of his son.
