Cole Christenson, Roedy Farrell, Logan Cole and Reily Shaffer brought home championships from the Don Runner Invitational wrestling tournament in Pavillion. The Lady Bobcats had a successful weekend at home winning two out of three of their games during a tournament that included Shoshoni, Rocky Mountain and Wyoming Indian. The weekend improved their record to seven wins, which eclipses their total from a year ago when the team finished 6-17 on the season. The Bobcats varsity basketball team travelled to Powell for the Big Horn Basin Classic on Jan. 17 and 18. On Friday, the boys fell in a close game with Rocky Mountain, 40-49. The Lady Cats varsity basketball team had three games this past weekend, splitting their win/loss record among Big Piney, Lyman and Pinedale. A busy week for Bobcat wrestlers saw them taking on Greybull/Riverside Thursday in Greybull. Open weights were costly for the Bobcats as Greybull/Riverside won a 44-20 decision over the Bobcats. “As we are understaffed in the (lighter) weights, our duals are going to be tough to win,” coach Travis McDermott said. The season has come to an end for the B teams of Thermopolis Middle School as they had their tournament last Saturday. The seventh grade B team traveled to Lander and came home with three wins, topping Worland 19-18, Powell 25-22 and Lander 27-6. Team Owl Creek was crowned Hot Springs County Recreation District Adult Volleyball Champions after defeating Gassed by Gottsche in some intense action. Thermopolis’ Middle School girls basketball teams went into the Thanksgiving break with games against arch rivals, Worland. The eighth grade teams played on their home court with the 8A team holding Worland to just six points in the first quarter. Practice began Monday for the 2019/20 edition of Bobcat wrestlers.
