The Bobcat wrestlers had an incredible showing at Wind River High School on Saturday and came home as the 2A West Regional Tournament runner-up champions, along with four individual championships including Riley Shaffer, Logan Cole, Austin Barral and Roedy Farrell. The Lady Bobcats split a pair of games over the weekend, beating Newcastle’s Lady Dogies 49-43 on Friday before falling to the Lady Bearcats of Douglas, on the road, 32-74. Friday’s win over Newcastle was a big one for the team as they came back and beat a team who had defeated them soundly just three weeks ago. The Bobcat Speech and Debate team had another winning tournament last weekend, bringing home first place from the Greybull Forensics Challenge. This is the fourth first place win in 1A/2A for the Bobcats with just two tournaments left before their state tourney. Valentine’s Day brought the Glenrock Herders visiting on senior night for the Bobcat wrestlers. The team of Bobcats won the dual 33-24. Riley Shaffer was honored for his commitment and effort in the four years he’s devoted his time and effort to the Bobcat wrestling program. The Hot Springs Country Recreation District is opening registration for its Start Smart Sports Program. It is offered to all kids ages three to five years old for basketball, soccer and baseball. This is a noncompetitive, one-on-one with the child’s parent, which focuses on developing fundamentals of each sport to teach the basics of each sport.
