    The Bobcat varsity boys basketball team dropped a pair over the weekend, traveling to Newcastle on Friday for a 60-52 loss and on to Douglas, where they fell 80-51. Both games were conference games, putting the Cats in fourth position in the Northeast 3A division with an 0-3 record. Overall, the boys are 3-8 for the season. Comments from head coach Shane Corpening were not available at press time. The Cats will take on Buffalo at home this Friday at 7 p.m. and Burlington on Saturday at 5 p.m....

    The Bobcat boys basketball team split a pair of games last week, taking the "W" against Greybull, 54-53, but pulling the "L" when it came to Lander, 37-88. Coach Shane Corpening said, "This was an interesting game from start to finish." Greybull came into the game shooting 15-percent from the three-point line.     The Lady Bobcats split a pair of games this past week, beating the Greybull Lady Buffs 55-35 on Tuesday evening, then falling 75-29 to the Lady Tigers in Lander. The girls are placed fourth in conference play in 3A Northeast. Coach Matt McPhie said the team started off slow against Greybull and then exploded for 35 points in the second and third quarters. “This was in large part to some excellent defense,” he said. They faced some top competition. “At this point in the season we are looking for the best competition we can get for our wrestlers. Without tournaments this year our top wrestlers don’t get as many chances to wrestle 3A and 4A wrestlers that we would in a normal tournament filled season.     The Bobcat girls varsity basketball team kicked off their season last weekend with three games on the road, Torrington, Burns and Wheatland, coming home with a 1-2 record.     Hot Springs County High School’s speech and debate team participated virtually in the Cheyenne South Bison Stampede tournament last weekend, bringing home first place in 1A/2A. The team took the Sweepstakes award a full six points ahead of number 2, Niobrara. Topping the list of winners was junior Jean-Luc Willson who placed second in varsity extemp.     Thermopolis Bobcat Football recently announced team awards for the 2020 season. Most Improved Player of the Year honors went to Eli McCumber. The pair named Scout Team Players of the Year were Eli Dickey and Jessen Basse, and Hustle Player of the Year went to Elijah Skelton.
