The Bobcats came home from the 2A State Wrestling Tournament in Casper with four state champions and a fifth place finish for the team, just outside of the trophies. Last Thursday, Bobcats Wyatt McDermott, Roedy Farrell, Logan Cole and Remington Ferree all earned state championships, the most wrestling championships in Bobcat history. The Lady Cat basketball team lost a hard fought contest with Buffalo last Friday night. The girls rallied in the third quarter to overcome a double digit deficit, but in the fourth quarter, turnovers plagued them, and they fell to Buffalo by a final score of 70-52. The girls trailed by a score of 29-20 at the half, but in the third quarter, great defense and offense led to a nice run by the Lady Cats taking the lead late in the third quarter. The Thermopolis Wrestling Club hosted a home tournament on Sunday. Several local wrestlers and others from around the state competed during the day. The Bobcat boys varsity basketball team took on Newcastle at home on Feb. 18 and came away with 80-69 win. The Lady Cats did not fair so well and varsity players lost to Newcastle 44-29. The first dual of the day was against Greybull. “We dominated the dual with a 54-24 win with only two losses,” said coach McDermott.
