The Bobcats Boys and Girls Cross Country Team started off their season traveling to Billings for a meet last Friday. For the Varsity girls 5000M run, Ruthanne Johnson placed 100 out of 133 and for the JV boys 5000M run, Jarek Jeffs placed 24th and Jadeth Elder placed 28th out of 206 runners. Porshia Birdsley is headed to the Strongman Nationals on June 25 in Manchester, New Hampshire. There will be 23 women in the competition. Hot Springs County High School Speech and Debate put the finishing touches on a picture perfect season at the National Speech and Debate Association (NSDA) 2022 National Tournament in Louisville, Kentucky last week. The NSDA National Tournament included over 6500 competitors this year. It was the largest NSDA Tournament in history. Jason Ciz, director of Thermopolis Baseball, reported that they are in the middle of their season, and said, "We're kind of hot and heavy about every night of the week." The Big Horn Basin Football Camp was held at the Hot Springs County High School grounds earlier this past week. Director Heath Hayes said they had 343 athletes participate and that they came from all over the region and some even from out of state. There were about 30 staff members facilitating the camp.
