The Lady cats started their season last week at Torrington High School. Coach David Villa said, “We knew we would be facing a feisty team from last year. Torrington came out fast with an 8-0 run on us. We looked anxious playing and forced some early turnovers. After we got through the first quarter things started to settle down for the team. This is the first year that girls wrestling is sanctioned in Wyoming and the Lady Cats will have four girls that will be making history all season long. Last year Wyoming had under 50 girls wrestling a mixed season with boys. This year, during weight certification, the state has over 200 girls registered. The fifth grade boys traveling basketball team competed in the Sheridan Rec Dept Winter Shootout and went 5-0 to win the championship for their division. Last Saturday, the Thermopolis Middle School Bobcats hosted the Big Horn Basin Middle School Conference Wrestling Tournament at the high school gym. Of the 10 Conference teams and 215 wrestlers, seven "A" division TMS wrestlers battled their way through the all-day tournament and earned a 3rd place team victory. Bobcat football players Jessen Basse, Del Dukes, Roedy Farrell and Gavin Shumway have been named to the all-conference football in Classes 2A West. These honors are voted on by the coaches in their respective conferences. These are done according to conference by-laws. Farrell has also earned all-state football honors for the 2022 season in class 2A. These are voted on by head coaches across the state. Last Thursday, the Thermopolis Middle School wrestling team hosted a quad duel with Lander, Riverton and Worland. To start the night out, the Bobcats won thirteen out of twenty-two matches against Lander. TMS Wrestling on the road to Glenrock and Riverton. The TMS Wrestling team had a busy week with multiple matches in multiple locations. The Varsity Football team headed to Lyman last Friday to take on the Eagles. The Bobcats fought hard but came up short, losing 58-25. “The Bobcats got into a shoot-out with the two-time defending state champion Lyman Eagles this past Friday.
