    The Hot Springs County High School varsity Bobcats traveled to neutral ground in Buffalo last week, for a week zero scrimmage game against Newcastle. With just seconds left on the clock, the Cats faced a fourth and goal from the seven. As the clock ran out, the Bobcats came away with a game winning touchdown, leaving a final score of Thermopolis 12 and Newcastle 7.     The Hot Springs County High School Golf teams were in Worland last week for the two-day Worland Invite Tournament at Green Hills Golf Course. Green Hills is an eighteen hole public course, which bills itself as the number 3 public course in the State of Wyoming. Ten schools participated in the event. The Lady Cats finished in third place on the leader board, with scores of 309 and 284, for a total team score of 593 – just eleven strokes off of the first place team from Lander.     The Hot Springs County High School Cross Country team opened their season with a warm-up at the Wyoming Invitational in Cheyenne last week. Teams from around the region – both in state, and out of state - were in attendance, to compete in a huge event, intended to get the season off to a roaring start. The Varsity girls event had 172 entrants, while the varsity boys had 218 competitors.     The Hot Springs County High School Golf Team played in the Terry Berg Invitational at the Lander Golf Course last week. The Bobcats and Lady Cats were pitted against teams from nine area schools, including: Cody, Evanston, Jackson, Lander, Lovell, Powell, Riverton and Worland. After finishing the 2A West season last year in 5th place – going 2 and 4 in the division, and 2 and 7 overall – the Cats are looking to capitalize on the knowledge and experience garnered in last season’s campaign.     The Bobcat cross country team began preparations for a new season this week, with two-a-day practices commencing on Monday. Head Coach, Stephanie Metz, and Assistant Coach, Kaitlyn Dudrick, have the runners working hard to prepare for the upcoming season. The team’s first meet will be in Cheyenne on August 30 for the state pre-view event.     The 2A High School Fall Golf Season kicks off this week for the Bobcat golf teams. Practices began on Monday and the first tournament of the season will be played in Powell on August 14-15.     On July 21 in Fridley, Minnesota at the Minnesota's Strongest Man and Woman Regionals Arnold's Qualifier, Thermopolis' Porshia Birdsley took first place in all 4/4 events winning the 73kg Women's which is 160.4 lbs and under.     In-coming Hot Springs County High School sophomore, Cannon Boren, was in competition last week at the U.S. Marine Corp Junior and U16 Nationals, which are held annually at Fargo, North Dakota. The tournament is the largest wrestling tournament in the world, and serves as the pinnacle for National Championships in Freestyle and Greco Wrestling in the United States.     On June 29 in Murray, Utah there were 50 kids in the Utah's Strongest Kid competition, making it the largest kids strongman competition in the history of the world. Thermopolis local Taylin Birdsley, 12, took 1st place with 44 out 45 points, second and third place girls tied with 37.5 points.
