The Lady Bobcat freshman girls basketball team traveled to Buffalo last weekend for a tournament, taking on Worland, Lovell and Powell, finishing with a 1-2 record. The girls came out strong against the Lady Warriors from Worland and it was a tie game, 23-23, at half time. The Lady Bobcat JV/freshmen team took on Ft. Washakie just before Christmas break, unfortunately losing a close one, 44-40. Bobcat Cullen Becher's sports career started at about age 5 or 6 in wrestling and PeeWee football with his father's support and coaching. The freshman/sophomore boys basketball team came away with its first win of the season when it took down Fort Washakie 63-52 on Dec. 19. Coach Ryan Shaffer noted there are currently two freshmen - Jesse Skelton and Eli Dickey - and during the Fort Washakie game Skelton was out sick so the majority of the players were sophomores. It was a rough pair of days for the Lady Bobcat basketball team this weekend as they dropped games to Riverton, Lovell and Lander. Friday’s game against Riverton saw the Lady Cats struggling a bit with a 30-53 loss. Coach Cory Sova said Riverton simply shot the ball much better and had nine more offensive rebounds. Bobcat wrestlers journeyed to Powell for their first competition of the season with a lot of questions to be answered. This young team answered them in the most positive way possible. The Lady Bobcats kicked off their basketball season last weekend at the Herder Classic in Glenrock, Friday and Saturday.
